| (i) For Serving BSF Officers | Bachelor Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized University or Institute; AND Five years’ experience rendered after appointment in Group-‘A’ service in BSF with a minimum of three years’ experience in dealing with law. |
| (ii) For Central / State Govt. / UT Administration Officers | Holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; OR With 5 years’ regular service in Level-10 (Rs. 56,100 - 1,77,500/-) in the pay matrix; AND Bachelor Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized University or Institute; AND Minimum six years’ experience in dealing with law. |
| (iii) For Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment) | Armed Forces personnel due to retire or transferred to reserve within 1 year holding equivalent post and possessing requisite qualifications and experience. |

- Open bsf.gov.in, the official website for Border Security Force.
- Under the “Recruitment / Circulars” tab, download both the official notification circular and the prescribed Bio-Data Proforma for the post of Law Officer Grade-II / Deputy Commandant (No. 1/28/2017-Pers/BSF).
- Use clean A4 paper to print the Bio-Data application format.
- Carefully enter all details: personal information, educational qualifications (LL.B. details), medical category, the present post, pay scale, employment history and experience in law.
- Paste a recent passport-size photograph into the box provided on the Bio-Data form.
- Attach photocopies, self-attested, of your Degree in Law (LL.B.), birth date certificate and the relevant service documents.
- Route your application through the Cadre Controlling Authority / Head of Office. Include copies of APARs / CR dossiers covering the last 5 years, with every page attested. Also attach the Vigilance Clearance Certificate and Integrity Certificate. The Major / Minor Penalty Certificate must confirm that no penalty was imposed over the last 10 years. Include a Cadre Clearance Certificate stating that, upon selection, the officer will be relieved immediately.
