Questions

How is age calculated for government exams?

In completed years, months and days on the date the notification fixes, such as 1 January or 1 August of the exam year, not on the day you apply.

Is the upper age limit included?

Notifications fix the limit as a range of birth dates. For an age limit of 21 to 32 years on 1 August 2025, the range is 2 August 1993 to 1 August 2004, both included: you must have turned 21, and not yet turned 32, on 1 August 2025. The calculator shows the same range so you can match it with your notification.

How much age relaxation do OBC, SC and ST candidates get?

For central government jobs: 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 5 years for SC and ST, and 10, 13 or 15 years for PwBD candidates from the General or EWS, OBC and SC or ST categories. Ex-servicemen and state government jobs follow their own rules, so check your notification.

Which date should I use for "age as on"?

The date printed next to the age limit in your notification, for example "Age as on 01.08.2025". It is often 1 January or 1 August of the exam year.

Is my date of birth stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
