Change DPI of a photo
Pick the DPI your form asks for, like 200 or 300, and download the same image with the new DPI.
Runs on your device. Your files are never uploaded.
1. Choose an image
JPG, PNG or WebP · or drop it here
2. Set the DPI
Use the DPI your form asks for. It changes how large the image prints, not its pixels.
Your image with the new DPI will appear here.
Questions
What is DPI?
Dots per inch: a label stored in the image that tells a printer how large to print it. A 600 px wide image prints 7.62 cm wide at 200 DPI and 5.08 cm at 300 DPI.
Does changing the DPI change the file size or quality?
For most JPG files, no: only the label changes, so the pixels and KB stay the same. Photos from a phone camera and PNG or WebP images are saved again as a high-quality JPG, so the file size can change a little.
My form asks for a photo of 3.5×4.5 cm at 200 DPI. What do I need?
An image of 276×354 pixels. Use the Resize photo tool to get those pixels, then set 200 DPI there or here.
Why does Windows still show 72 DPI?
Some files keep a second DPI value from the camera. This tool removes it and saves the new DPI, so Windows, Photoshop and form checkers read the same number.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The DPI is set in your browser and the image never leaves your device.
