Directorate of School Education, West Bengal has officially commenced online registration for the Central Sector National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Examination (NMMSE) 2026 for Class VIII students studying in Govt/Govt-aided/Local Body schools. Eligible students (minimum 55% marks in Class VII & family income below Rs. 3,50,000/-) can apply online from 28 July 2026 to 16 September 2026 through wbbse.wb.gov.in or scholarships.wbsed.gov.in. Selected scholars will receive Rs. 12,000/- per year (Rs. 1,000/month) from Class IX to Class XII.

Academic Eligibility Criteria
| Current Status | Must be studying in Class VIII in a recognized Govt, Govt-aided, or Local Body school in West Bengal. |

| Class VII Marks | Minimum 55% marks in Class VII (5% relaxation for SC / ST students, i.e., 50%). |
|---|
| Students of Private / Unaided / Kendriya Vidyalaya / Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are NOT eligible. |

| Family Income | Parent/Guardian’s annual income must not exceed Rs. 3,50,000/- per annum from all sources. |

How to Apply Online for WB NMMS Registration 2026
- Visit the official WBBSE scholarship portal - wbbse.wb.gov.in or scholarships.wbsed.gov.in
- Click on the link titled “NMMS Registration 2026 / NMMSE Application Form”.
- Click on “New Registration” and enter basic student details (Name, DOB, Gender, Mobile No.).
- Fill out the form with Parent/Guardian details, Family Income, School UDISE Code, and Class VII Marks percentage.
- Upload scanned copies of required documents (Passport photo, signature, Income Certificate, Class VII Marksheet, Caste Certificate).
- Review all entered details carefully before final submission.
- Submit the online application before 16 September 2026.
- Take a printout of the submitted application form and get it signed/endorsed by your School Headmaster/Headmistress for school submission.
