An official recruitment notification (No. NSD/URDU-UNIT/NRT/Casual/2026) has been released by Prasar Bharati, News Services Division: Akashvani (All India Radio), New Delhi for Newsreader-cum-Translator (Urdu) engagement on a casual assignment basis. Offline applications are invited from candidates of Indian origin who reside in Delhi and NCR area. Candidates aged 21 to 50 years can apply offline if they hold a Bachelor’s Degree and a Degree/Diploma in Journalism/Mass Communication, are proficient in English and Urdu, and have a voice suitable for broadcasting. Selection Process
- Delhi will host both stages of the selection process:
- Stage 1 - Written Test (100 Marks | 3 Hours): Professional competence and translation abilities are tested. The syllabus covers English to Urdu translation and vice-versa, general knowledge, and short notes about current affairs. Urdu must be used to write all answers. A score of 50 marks and above qualifies candidates for Stage 2.
- Stage 2 - Voice Test & Interview: Voice quality, modulation, diction, pronunciation and accent are assessed for suitability for radio broadcasting. A recommendation for empanelment will be made for candidates who score 50 marks or above in the voice test and interview.
- Candidates attending the written test, voice test or interview will not receive TA/DA.

- A ‘No Objection Certificate’ issued by the employer must accompany applications from candidates working in Govt./Autonomous bodies.
