Bihar Law Department Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online 13 Additional Advocate General, Additional Standing Counsel Posts
Law Department, Government of Bihar, Patna has released an official recruitment notice seeking willingness from eligible advocates to engage 13 Law Officers. These Law Officers will represent the Government of Bihar before the Supreme Court of India. Under the Bihar Law Officers (Engagement) Rules, 2023, there are 03 posts of Additional Advocate General and 10 posts of Additional Standing Counsel. Practicing advocates who are eligible and meet the prescribed criteria can submit their willingness using the prescribed proforma, with supporting documents that are self-attested. Submission is through email or by post, on or before 16 November 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
- Indian citizenship is required, along with enrolment as an advocate on the rolls maintained by the State Bar Council / Bar Council of India.
- The minimum standing, practice experience and criteria specified in the Bihar Law Officers (Engagement) Rules, 2023 must be met.
- Advocates must be actively practicing and have proven competence in matters handled before the Supreme Court of India and High Courts.

- A distinguished senior advocate / advocate who is practicing and has the required years of active standing under the Bihar Law Officers (Engagement) Rules, 2023.
- Represent the State of Bihar in matters before the Supreme Court of India.
- An advocate must be enrolled and have the continuous practice required by the Bihar Law Officers (Engagement) Rules, 2023.
- Provide assistance and representation to the State of Bihar before the Supreme Court of India.

How to Apply for Bihar Law Department Law Officers Recruitment 2026
- Open state.bihar.gov.in/law, the official website for the Law Department, Government of Bihar.
- Download the official notification together with its enclosed prescribed Willingness Proforma Format.
- Use good quality paper of A-4 size to print the proforma.
- Clearly enter all the required information: Name, Father’s/Husband’s Name, Date of Birth, Address, Contact details, PAN, Enrolment details and Income Tax particulars.
- Paste a recent passport-size photograph in the space provided. Sign the declaration and add the date and place.
- Include self-attested photocopies of these documents: Bar Council Enrolment Certificate, Bar Association ID and ITRs covering the last 3 years.
- Step 7 (Submission Options): Candidates may use any of these modes to submit their completed application with enclosures. By Email: Scan the proforma bearing your signature and the documents into a PDF file, then email it to [email protected]. By Post / Courier: Send the packet containing hard copies to Office of the Advocate General, Bihar, High Court Campus, Patna - 800028, Bihar. By Hand: Take the application in person to Office of the Advocate General, High Court, Patna.
- The office / email must receive the application on or before 16 November 2026. Applications arriving after this deadline will not be considered.
